Love as a Way of Life book review

I just got finished with the book Love as a Way of Life by Dr. Gary Chapman. He's the author of the book, The Five Love Languages. In this book he goes over characteristics of loving people. They are things like forgiveness, humility, patience, kindness, and so on. He illustrates each one with poignant stories of real people who face horrible situations and chose to take the high road. For example, did you know that the Amish community that was devastated by the lone gunman that killed some of their children set up a fund for the man's wife and child? It was a shining example of forgiveness and I'm sure one that touched the people involved as well as any who heard it.

Nothing in this book is new but the stories help remind you of what God wants for us as human beings. I loved this book. I have an extra copy to give away. If you want it, leave a comment (click on the comment word at the bottom of the post) and a way to contact you and I will draw a name next friday.

Well! I'll be the first, I guess!
Sounds like a great book to read,Wendy. I can always depend on you to be a wonderful source of wisdom. I know that you are inspired by good books, and so I trust your judgment. Besides, I have loved his other books. Sounds like a great book to take on vacation with me in August. Thanks for sharing. I think we all need to read this book once...some of us, maybe over and over again:)

Wendy, this looks like a book our family would like. I think we all need reminding of the peace that can be found through a loving attitude. I just finished reading The Anatomy of Peace; another book that shares stories - some fictional and some historical - about finding peace. I think Chapman's new book with be a great follow-up to that book. Congratulations on adding some alternative media suggestions to the everyone!

Hi Wendy,

The Five Love Languages is one of those books that I read once and have returned to often over the years as a reference book. I didn't know Chapman wrote any other books that weren't connected in some way with The Five Love Languages.

I just looked up Chapman's Love as a Way of Life on Amazon and was surprised to find that it was just released on July 15, 2008. I hadn't heard anything about it until your blog! It definitely sounds like a book I would enjoy. Please toss my name in the hat.

Okay...so here...I am leaving a comment. You can put my name in the hat so you have more names to pick from! But if you draw me, you have to pick another name! :)
